Charlie (Brendan Fraser) is not happy with his life that he is not in control of at all. He is a very lonely English high school teacher whose only company is his severe obesity and his fight against his binge eating disorder. Charlie spends hours alone engulfed in guilt for abandoning his daughter (Sadie Sink) when he fell in love with another woman. Her daughter, now a teenager, lives with her mother Mary (Samantha Morton) and is not related to Charlie. He will try to change this situation and meet his daughter again.
