Alex is a 12-year-old mother who is in trouble when his best friend is harassed by older students than her. He helps his boyfriend and strikes with one of the aggressors, and gets punished with them by their director. Later, he runs and reaches a nearby building site where he is hiding. There, he discovers a mysterious sword he takes from where he is. Taking his sword home with him, Alex shows it to his friend and the two discover that the sword is the legendary Excalibur that belonged to King Arthur.
