The story is set at the beginning of the 20th century and follows Celie, a black woman from the South of the United States, who since she was little was raped on different occasions by her own father. As a result she had two children from whom she was separated and forced to marry a farmer named Albert, known as “Mister”. But, more than being an escape route, her marriage is a new nightmare. Later, Nettie will go to live with them, her little sister, whom Mister has loved from the beginning and who causes Celie’s expulsion from the house and from her lives.
Filmmaker Blitz Bazawule is in charge of filming the famous Broadway musical The Color Purple, based on Alice Walker’s novel of the same name. The tape is a remake of the 1985 feature film, The Color Purple, directed by Steven Spielberg.
