One Life

A British stockbroker named Nicholas Winton visits Czechoslovakia in the 1930s, and considers it his moral obligation to rescue 669 Jewish children before the Nazis arrive, who are in the run-up to World War II. After visiting Prague and seeing the horrors and atrocities faced by Jewish refugee families, he knew the time had come to act if he had any hope of helping those whose lives were in danger. His participation in an operation known as Kindertransport helped rescue hundreds of children, although Winton remains haunted even decades later by the ghosts of the children he failed to rescue.
