March 1918. A group of soldiers are sent to the front in the north of France. They are led by Captain Stanhope, only 20 years old. The Germans are approaching fast, their arrival is imminent. Stanhope scatters his bitterness in alcohol, fears he will end up in the hands of his enemies. A young officer officer, Raleigh, is coming soon. He is only 18 years old. Stanhope is one of his best friends, his sister is in love with him. As the threat approaches, the tension is at its highest.
