A married couple formed by Pete and Ellie feels she is missing something from their marriage and decides to visit a parental care center. Two social assistants named Karen and Sharon guide their two future parents through the formalities of becoming adoptive parents. The two are brought to a place where they choose the children they are interested in adopting. Pete and Ellie look at adolescents, but Ellie is more tempted to adopt younger children. Eventually, the two get to like a teenager named Lizzie. But the problem is that the young girl has two other brothers, so Pete and Ellie are picking three children in the family, which will prove to be a bigger challenge than expected.
