Cold War

Poland, 50s. In a country marked by the wounds suffered in World War II, the new communist authorities will promote the creation of a group of musicians who, through local folklore, will try to bring some joy to the Polish comrades, and incidentally transmit messages of praise about Comrade Stalin. Wiktor (Tomasz Kot) is a pianist who is part of this choral group. It will be then when Wiktor falls in love with Zula (Joana Kulig) and together they live a beautiful romance, which will go back and forth over more than a decade, between East and West, where jazz plays and rock’n begins to reign ‘roll.
The Polish filmmaker Pawel Pawlikowski (Ida, Last Resort) directs this black and white film starring Tomasz Kot (Gods) and Joanna Kulig (The Innocents).
